I've been told my recommendations are pretty good, so I thought I'd share a list of older anime that people forgot about
or never even heard of. The order of the shows is not relevant, this is not a ranking, just a list of shows I think you
should see. Click the MAL icon to see the show on MyAnimeList.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/339/Serial_Experiments_Lain" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>Serial Experiments Lain</span>
</h2>
</div>
</div>
Lain is one of those shows that you have to watch. It's eerily relevant how it portrays our relationship with
technology,
how it extends our very being and how it can affect us.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/227/FLCL" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">
<img src="/assets/images/mal.png" width="32px" height="32px" style="border-radius: 0.2rem" alt="See on MyAnimeList">

<div style="display: flex; flex-direction: column">
<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>FLCL</span>
</h2>
</div>
</div>
Extremely weird and surreal reality about growing up and world moving on regardless of what you do. Entire experience is
really chaotic and fast-paced, but it works really well. and
<a target="_blank" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4_Qzx-E2LQ">ending by "The Pillows"</a> is an awesome cherry
on top.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/12445/Tasogare_Otome_x_Amnesia" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>Dusk Maiden of Amnesia</span>

<small>Tasogare Otome x Amnesia</small>
</div>
</div>
Great romance + mystery + ghost hunting combo. You don't want to read up or spoil anything before finishing the first
episode, so I won't say much. Definitely worth a watch if you're into romance and mystery.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/24765/Gakkougurashi" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<div style="display: flex; flex-direction: column">
<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>School Live!</span>
</h2>
<small>Gakkougurashi!</small>
</div>
</div>
Gakkougurashi! is a slice of life anime with a twist. I will not say another word, you just need to trust me on this one,
it's definitely worth a watch. Finish the first episode, you can thank me later.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/8525/Kami_nomi_zo_Shiru_Sekai" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>The World God Only Knows</span>
</h2>
<small>Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai</small>
</div>
</div>
I will with utmost confidence say that this is one of the last, if not the last good harem anime that doesn't revolve on
"protagonist gets harem, because he's a protagonist".
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/41619/Munou_na_Nana" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>Talentless Nana</span>

<small>Munou na Nana</small>

My Hero Academia-esque story that turns into something much more interesting.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/2025/Darker_than_Black__Kuro_no_Keiyakusha" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<small>Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha</small>

Very early low fantasy anime with deep characters and interesting story.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/48849/Sonny_Boy" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<div style="display: flex; flex-direction: column">
<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>Sonny Boy</span>

</div>
</div>
This is an interesting one. It touches on topics of existentialism and sens of self. Very abstract with how it presents
its story.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/43299/Wonder_Egg_Priority" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

Sometimes you jest need to fight trauma. Literally. Amazingly animated story about dealing with loss.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/550/Yu%E2%98%86Gi%E2%98%86Oh" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">

<span>Yu☆Gi☆Oh!</span>

</div>
No, not the one you probably heard of due to the card game. This is the first anime before the concept pivoted to it.
This is what people call "Season 0" of the anime. It's a lot darker than the things in the franchise that released after.
<div style="display: flex; align-items: center; gap: 0.5rem; margin-top: 4rem;">
<a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/24833/Ansatsu_Kyoushitsu" style="display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center;">
<img src="/assets/images/mal.png" width="32px" height="32px" style="border-radius: 0.2rem" alt="See on MyAnimeList">

<h2 style="margin-top: 0;">
<span>Assassination Classroom</span>
</h2>
<small>Ansatsu Kyoushitsu</small>
</div>
</div>
This show has two seasons and somehow manages to give personality to the entire classroom worth of characters.
Sometimes silly, but in general a fun watch.
<hr>
That's it for now, I will keep this list updated as I find more shows that I think are worth watching.
